Drs. Jeremy Hoff and Kinjal Sohagia offer state-of-the-art regenerative medicine to Hampton Roads.
Newport News, VA (April 1, 2016)- Hampton Roads Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine announces the launch of their Stem Cell Therapy Center located in Newport News, VA. Drs. Jeremy Hoff and Kinjal Sohagia are now offering state-of-the-art regenerative medicine and stem cell therapies including Adipose Stem Cell Therapy and Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP). Stem cell therapy offers an excellent option for treating painful injuries of the knees, hips, shoulders, feet/ankles or spinal disc injuries that have not improved following conservative, non-surgical treatments. Stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine provide patients with an alternative to invasive surgery.
“The goal of stem cell therapy or PRP therapy is to stimulate healing so that the body heals itself by using the body’s own cells,” says Dr. Jeremy Hoff, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist. “The hope with stem cell therapy is that once the cells are injected into the site of injury they will stimulate the growth of cartilage, meniscus, or tendons providing overall healing and avoiding invasive surgery for the patient.”
Adipose stem cell therapy and PRP therapy are procedures that are performed in office and take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Adipose stem cells are obtained through a quick liposuction procedure of the abdomen. The liposuction content is then processed down in a centerfuge where the stems cells are separated and then injected into the site of injury. PRP is a procedure where platelets are obtained through a simple blood draw from the patient and once the blood is drawn, it is spun in a centrifuge to obtain the highest concentration of platelets possible. These platelets, also known as growth factors, are then injected at the site of injury or pain.
“Our goal for the patient is to stimulate healing and also to avoid another surgery or prolong the need of having another surgery” says Dr. Kinjal Sohagia, Interventional Spine Specialist. “Generally speaking, a good candidate for stem cell therapy or PRP, is anyone who has tried other forms of treatment including steroid injections, physical therapy, or even surgery that has failed.”
Patients interested in regenerative treatments should contact HROSM Stem Cell Therapy Center by calling (757) 873-1554 or requesting an appointment online. While regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy are not appropriate for everyone, those patients who are good candidates for therapy treatments can work with Drs. Jeremy Hoff or Kinjal Sohagia to establish the best form of treatment.
